Job Description

The Phelps-Clifton Springs Central School District has an opening for a Probationary Library Media Specialist.   The successful candidate will need to:

? Evaluate, select, requisition, and process new library materials;
? Provide guidance to students in the selection of library materials;
? Maintain a comprehensive and efficient cataloging system for library materials;
? Instruct teachers and students on the use of the library system(s);
? Demonstrate fluent understanding of NYS Learning Standards;
? Maintain a recovery mindset;
? Demonstrate an understanding of differentiated and blended learning;
? Effectively manage several students and/or projects at the same time in a high-paced environment;
? Able to build a positive rapport with staff, students, and parents;
? Demonstrate the willingness to work with different learning styles and learning needs;
? Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills;
? Demonstrate ability to work effectively with colleagues with successful experience in working as part of a team to create and facilitate assignments utilizing library resources while integrating classroom curriculum;
? Ability to assist students in developing independent reference work habits and skills in using reference materials;
? Make a strong commitment to professional learning and a growth mindset.

? Completion of a NYS Registered Program – Library Media Specialist
? Institutional Recommendation – Library Media Specialist
? New York State Teacher Certification Exam – Educating All Students Test (EAS)
? Content Specialty Test (CST) – Library Media Specialist or Safety Net Library Media Specialist
? Workshop – Child Abuse Identification
? Workshop – Dignity For All Students Act
? Fingerprint Clearance
