Job Description

The Phelps-Clifton Springs Central School District has an opening for a Confidential Typist - Business Office.   The successful candidate will need to:

• Answer phones and greet visitors while exercising strong customer service skills;
• Enter requisitions and process purchase orders, invoices and cash receipts;
• Apply basic mathematical and accounting concepts to prepare documents for Business Office review;
• Assist with the preparation of civil service documents, job postings and roster updates;
• Assist with new hire paperwork processing and maintenance of personnel records;
• Prepare routine correspondence and provide clerical assistance to the Business Administrator;
• Software data entry (nVision, HR Select, etc.);
• Assist in other aspects of business operations and human resources as needed;
• Other duties as assigned by the Business Administrator and/or Superintendent.

Core Competencies:

• Strong ability to work in a collaborative environment;
• Knowledgeable in the use of basic office software applications;
• Experience in, or ability to learn basic bookkeeping methods;

Job Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• One year full-time paid clerical experience, or its part-time equivalent
• Civil Service Approval (eligible for NY HELPS program – examination waived)
• NYSED Fingerprint Clearance
