The Phelps-Clifton Springs Central School District has an opening for two (2) School Monitors (Bus).   The successful candidate will need to:

• Assist bus driver with safety, movement, management, and care of the students while loading, transporting and unloading;
• Supervise students, maintaining a high standard of conduct;
• Guide students safely across streets and intersections;
• Willing to be trained in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention Systems (TCIS) or preventative measures;
• Able to build a positive rapport with students;
• Demonstrate excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with colleagues with successful experience in working as part of a team.

The Phelps-Clifton Springs Central School District has openings for Bus Drivers.   The successful candidate will need to:

• Excellent knowledge of driving safety practices as well as traffic laws and regulations;
• Ability to operate a bus under all driving and road conditions;
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written direction;
• Ability to get along well with children and command their respect;
• Mental alertness and dependability;
• Keep the interior and exterior of vehicle clean and neat;
• Maintain records of mileage, routes, times, and incidents.

The Phelps-Clifton Springs Central School District has an openings for Bus Driver Trainees. The successful candidate should possess the following attributes:

• Attends training to learn motor vehicle rules and regulations pertaining to school bus operation;
• Shadows licensed bus drivers and/or trainers;
• Sits at controls and under close supervision performs functions of a bus driver;
• Rides with drivers to learn routes;
• Learns and follows procedures for accident avoidance as well as procedures to follow in the event of an accident;
• Learns basic maintenance procedures;
• Learns to prepare and maintain basic bus routes and pick up routes;
• Candidates would be eligible to apply for a School Bus Driver position after retaining the appropriate level New York State Driver’s License;
• Training period is for a maximum of 3 months.

The Phelps-Clifton Springs Central School District has openings for Substitute School Monitors (Cafeteria).   The successful candidate will need to:

• Supervise and support students during mealtimes;
• Assist with the flow of student traffic into and out of the cafeteria;
• Ensure that the cafeteria rules and regulations are being followed;
• Assist with cleaning cafeteria tables, chairs, and floors.

The Phelps-Clifton Springs Central School District has openings for Lifeguards.   The successful candidate will need to:

• Strong work ethic and the ability to work well with co-workers;
• Ability to perform well without direct supervision;
• Ability to swim well;
• Excellent knowledge of first aid, lifesaving, and rescue work as applied to accidents in the water;
• Able to enforce compliance with pool rules and regulations and ensure the safety and welfare of all within the pool area;
• Ability to work well with children and adults;
• Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills;
• Demonstrate excellent observation skills and mental alertness.
